Dindy Reich
Dindy Reich is an Emeritus Faculty member of the School of Art and Design at East Carolina University. She joined the faculty in the Fall of 2003 after many years of teaching in Kentucky, Texas and Colorado. At ECU, she taught Drawing, two and three-dimensional Design and Community Arts Management.
She coordinated the ECU Youth Arts Festival in Greenville for fourteen years and was one of the original supporters of the Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge. She received many Grassroots Grants which are coordinated through the Pitt County Arts Council. These regional grants helped to grow the festival into a wonderful event for the children and families of Eastern North Carolina. These grants allowed us to bring in wonderful artists and performers each year for the festival. Emerge Gallery also did wonderful hands-on activities at the festival each year.
Dindy has shown her work at Emerge Gallery as well as in other shows in Eastern North Carolina. She works in mixed media including metals, collage, fibers, wood and acrylic paints and inks.
She is also a nationally recognized jeweler and sculptor. She received her B.A. in Art from Grinnell College and her M.F.A. in Jewelry Design and Silversmithing at Indiana University. Her work has been included in many shows all over the United States as well as in Japan, Spain and Mexico.
She was a founding member of the Colorado Metalsmithing Association and was the curator of numerous shows in the Coburn Gallery of Colorado College during her tenure there.
