Charlotte's Daughters
Yes- Charlotte was our mother and she had 2 daughters, Jean and Ann. A little over 20 years ago we decided to learn how to work in glass. We had always admired how color, light, texture, and shapes enhance our lives so we took classes in traditional glass art using copper foil and lead. We had fun but wanted more- and then we bought our first kiln. It’s as if the world of possibilities opened up and we were hooked. We taught ourselves how to fuse glass (trial and error is a wonderful teacher) and we have been creating ever since.
We are fortunate to live and work on Atlantic Beach NC and get our inspiration from nature, our ocean and friends. We line dance for exercise and fun and one of our friends wore a skirt that inspired the Jeannie Wave. The fluidity of the waves in her skirt turned into the Jeannie which is one of our most popular patterns. We responsibly source most of our glass products from a Bullseye Glass Company in Portland, Oregon. Beginning in 2016 it upgraded its facilities to come into compliance with new emission controls and environmental standards.
It is unusual for sisters to be next door neighbors, business partners and best friends, but here we are. We are fortunate that our friends and families are supportive and continuously encourage us to expand our boundaries. We hope that our glass brings you pleasure. You can view more of our work on our website charlottesdaughtersglass.com or in Morehead City, NC at the Carolina Artists Gallery.
