Kathleen Dentinger
Kathleen majored in science and spent 33 years teaching biology, chemistry, and general science in Kenmore, New York. In her spare time, she painted and became a member of the Kenmore Art Society and the Tonawanda Council on the Arts. She and her husband Jack moved to the beautiful Emerald Isle beachfront town when they retired. With the warmer weather, she was able to devote her time and energy to creating art full-time in her new studio.
Kathleen works with acrylic paint and additives. Her work often includes textures built of sand, paper, and found objects. The yin and yang of light and dark work against each other to create complex dynamics on the surface of the canvas. She has found that color is a great mood achiever; it can soothe, excite, calm, or invigorate. All of her paintings employ color and she has created several series of paintings including themes of dragons, hearts, and animal totem spirits.
Kathleen is an active member and former president of the Carolina Artists Gallery in Morehead City. She also belongs to the Community Artists Gallery in New Bern, NC.
