Minday Maddin
Mindy Maddin, a Tulsa, Ok native, has engaged in various artistic endeavors (Temari, embroidery, quilling, wire wrapping, etc.) beginning in her teens.
To her evolving art, Mindy brings her engineering precision and her Cherokee Indian roots. She loves incorporating textures and varied components in her creations. Given her Oklahoma roots, she also likes hand tooling, stitching, and dying leather.
BACKGROUND: A talented musician, she majored in harpsichord performance. But she likes to eat, so she quickly determined that becoming a civil engineering designer was a good plan.
Subsequent moves landed her in Winston-Salem, N.C. When COVID layoffs ended that career in mid-2020, Mindy became a full-time artist. Given the quality of her work, she was juried into two very competitive art shows in Winston-Salem and her work was exhibited in other venues.
She moved to Washington in July of 2023 to enjoy the water and incorporate those influences in her art.
“I like making unique art to be used and enjoyed. Currently my work focuses on leather, beading, wire wrapping, etc. I look forward to incorporating patterns that reflect life here on the river plus my engineering background and my Native American ancestry. Check back early and often to see what’s new!”
