Beth Clark
Beth Clark’s art is inspired by her love of nature and animals. She is happiest viewing a sunset, cloud gazing, watching birds or sitting on the back porch enjoying the company of her little dog Gracie. She strives to evoke a sense of peacefulness in her work as well as capturing the personalities of the animals she paints.
Although she is primarily self-taught, her informal art education began at an early age with her mother, a former art teacher. During her college years visual arts fell by the wayside in favor of a musical education. Professionally, she has worked as a private piano teacher as well as having had the opportunity to teach in the Music Departments at East Carolina University and Chowan University. She currently serves as the Director of Music and Organist at First Christian Church in Washington, N.C.
During her time at Chowan, she had the opportunity to study drawing with art faculty member Jeff Whelan. In the last several years, she has also attended various painting workshops and classes given by very fine local artists including Glenn Nelson and John Groesser.
She has exhibited work with Greenville Brushstrokes in various venues including A’tavola Market and Café in Greenville, N.C., the Kinston Community Center for the Arts, and the Greenville Brushstrokes Show and Sale which takes place twice a year at First Christian Church in Greenville, N.C.
She is a member of Arts of the Pamlico and has exhibited work through this organization at the Turnage Theater in Washington and at Swindell’s Store in Bath, N.C. She currently has work at River Walk Gallery in Washington, N.C. and at the Mattie Arts and Gift Center in Swan Quarter, N.C.
